Sweet Family of Three ~ Bourne, MA Portrait Photographer

I met this sweet family back in early February when I photographed the little Peanut's Valentine's Day photos.  Lucky for me, Mom and Dad got engaged since the last time I saw them and I got to snap a few engagement photos besides the family photos.  

So Sweet ~ Mommy Project Week 12

I missed a few weeks in the Mommy Project (www.516-photography.com/mommy-project/).  But the important thing is that I started again!  I was inspired by this week's theme: Sweet.  Now I think my munchkin is just the sweetest thing ever (most of the time!) but when I saw what she was doing with her snack yesterday I just knew I had to record the doubly sweet moment!

This little girl is quite special for many reasons!  First, she was born very premature and was only a little over a pound at birth.  So it is so wonderful to see the beautiful, healthy girl she has become!  Second, she and her mama have been really great friends to Grace and I, and her mom was one of my partners in running the Fall Festival Fundraiser back in October.  And of course, she is just plain cute!  Happy Birthday Jordyn!

Remember that adorable Cake Smash I shared a few days ago?  (If you didn't see it just scroll down to my previous post!)  Well this is adorable little Ella during the Portrait portion of her one-year-photo session.  What a sweetie!  An I am so excited that I will get to spend some more time with her and her wonderful mom and dad when I photograph their wedding in just two months!

I take back what I said a few months back about how one-year-olds don't know what to do with a birthday cake!  This little girl did!  She was covered in pink gooey frosting, and kept shaking it all off her hands so it went flying around my living room!  It was difficult to stop laughing long enough to snap a few shots!  And I laughed all over again the whole time I edited them.  Here are some of my favorite shots from the session.  And stop back tomorrow for the Portrait session that came before her cake smash.

I met Zachary on a brisk Saturday morning a few weeks ago.  He was more than happy to climb in precarious positions to get great shots!  He was a friendly and polite young man, and I really enjoyed spending the time with him.  Zachary, I wish you all the best for all your future endeavors.

Every baby is a blessing to their parents.  And every newborn session is an awe-inspiring experience for me.  When I am setting up and preparing for the session my thoughts are all about colors and textures and what feelings I want the photos to evoke.  But the moment that sweet, tiny bundle of joy is handed to me it becomes less about a job to be done and more about the divine beauty that I have the honor of capturing.  I am forever grateful that I get to experience this again and again.  And this beauty was no exception:

Something Dear to My ❤

It's amazing what can change in just one year.  52 weeks.  365 days.  2012 to 2013.  


One year ago I was mom to a baby.  Now my baby is a toddler.

One year ago I was "just" a stay-at-home-mom and former teacher.  Now I have a thriving photography business and an amazing set of goals and dreams for the future.

Those two big changes are connected in a big way.  It is because of my daughter, Grace, that I started my photography business.  And as I have watched her grow from baby to little girl I have also watched my other "baby" grow into something I never imagined possible.

Strangely, the simple act of dressing my daughter yesterday morning triggered this whole chain of thoughts about where I have been and where I am going.  Here's why:

And there you have it...both my babies growing up at the same time.  Grace is close to turning 2 and Capturing Grace is close to turning 1.  I cannot wait to see what another 365 days brings us!

Baby it's Cold Outside ~ Bourne, MA Couples' Photography; Bourne, MA Engagement Photography

I personally would stay outside for hours in below freezing temperatures to get good photos.  If you've had your photos taken by me, you may remember me crawling in dirt, rolling around on the ground, even climbing steep hills...anything to get the shot.  When I am in the zone I just can't be stopped.

Others, however, have more sense than me I suppose and decide that enough is enough after the 12th gust of wind blows over the flash!!!  And that is how this session down at Bourne Farm went.  Here's to warmer weather ahead!!!

This mom and dad are absolutely smitten with their tiny new arrival.  I don't blame them because she was so sweet and cuddly!  She loved being held and rocked.  I wish all the best to this beautiful family!

No matter how many newborns I photograph, I will never stop being amazed by those tiny toes, their tiny noses, those itty bitty clenched fists...  I will never stop staring in wonder at this tiny person before me who will someday have dreams of her very own. And to know that she will look back at these images and show them to her own children....makes me realize just how honored I am to capture them!
