Keeping Busy...

Things have been a bit slow around here this past month as everyone rebounds from Christmas and dives right into cold and flu season (cough, cough!)

BUT, I have been staying nice and busy even if my camera hasn't!

I attended some workshops.  I am trying to improve my use of studio light AND my editing skills.  Both workshops were great and filled my head with things I can't wait to try out!  I will be looking for some clients to try out my new skills on so be on the lookout for some upcoming Casting Calls!

I have decided to do some rebranding to go along with my new (ish) business name.  So here it the logo you will see on all my photos now:

I think that it really shows the fun and whimsical side of me, which is me behind the camera!

Along with the new logo are new gift cards, a new blog header, a new timeline cover and much more!  All are coordinated and all are fun!

In the works right now are some specials that I will be running, including a Newborn Special.

I am also busy planning the set for my upcoming Easter Mini-Sessions which will be held in late February and early March in my home studio.

So, I have not been filling your newsfeed with daily doses of cuteness, but I HAVE been working behind the scenes to make a better Capturing Grace!

Valentine's Day Lightning Sessions ~ Cape Cod Portrait Photographer

Today was Round One of the Valentine's Mini sessions with Capturing Grace Photography.  And this photographer can't wait to do it again!

The props made the photos!  My wonderful husband built the backdrop AND helped make the adorable banner.  I went with red rather than pink so the set-up would work for boys or girls.

And it wouldn't be Valentine's Day without heart shape candies!

Only for a photo op would we allow children to hold that much sugar in their hands at one time!!!

And of course, as a mom, I couldn't resist snapping some after-the-session photos of my sweet girl...surely we will save these for her future boyfriends ;-)

Next Sunday, January 27 I will be doing it all again!  Let me know if you are interested in a spot for your child or your family via e-mail at kristymutchler15@gmail.com.

Sweet Baby Zachary ~ Yarmouth MA Newborn and Portrait Photographer

Pure and simple baby.

         ❤ ❤ ❤

When I do a newborn session, I like to offer a variety of looks.  There is the cute baby in a basket, the baby in a tutu, baby with an animal hat on, and of course baby Zachary looked so sweet in his Daddy's fire helmet.  But I am always most enthralled by the images that capture the sweet, simple innocence of a newborn.

I have a thing for baby feet, and little Zachary was as happy as can be just laying here modeling his little piggy toes!

Peek-a-Boo!

I work hard to get the babies into a peaceful slumber but I just love when I capture an eyes-open-wide shot!

Even more beautiful than a newborn baby?  A baby and his mama.

I was lucky enough to have met this sweet mama before when I photographed her two older children and also lucky to get to talk to her throughout the newborn session.  And the love she has for her children is so amazing to see.   I am so happy that I got to capture it on camera.

What a sweet, sweet boy ❤ ❤ ❤

In Daddy's Footsteps... Yamouth, MA Newborn Photographer

10 day old baby Zachary worked hard today!  So did his mama and I!  But it was worth it!  (I hope he thinks so too!)

Here is a small sneak peak of some of the fabulous images I was able to capture of this sweet little boy!

Daddy is a hard-working fire fighter and paramedic, and it was important to the family to reflect that in the photos.

(By the way I LOVE when clients have ideas for sessions that they share with me!)

Now I don't know how many of you have tried putting a baby inside a fire helmet, but I can tell you, it is not as easy as you may think!!

Nor is it a piece of cake to lay a squirmy baby gently atop a pair of fire boots (just in case that was your plan for tomorrow!)

But as much as little Zachary wanted us to, we just refused to give up!

I have plenty more adorable photos of this little one, but they will have to wait until tomorrow.  But I will leave you with my favorite of the day in three different editing styles.  Which do you like best?

Baby Girls, Pure and Simple ~ Cape Cod Newborn Photographer

"Babies are such a nice way to start people."

                                                                --- Don Herold

When I started out in photography, I didn't know just how much I would be drawn to photographing newborns.  But there is just something that draws me to those delicate little fingers, wispy eyelashes and smooth, brand new skin.  I just feel so at peace when I am holding a tiny new life in my arms, and I am so happy to be able to capture such magical images and share them with parents.

If I enjoy photographing one baby, imagine how much I love photographing two!!!

These tiny baby girls were just a week old when I met them.  They were the tiniest little things I have every seen!!!  And they slept THE WHOLE TIME!!!  Which meant I was able to get some fantastic images!

I love cute props and accessories and have an amazingly huge collection in my prop room!  But I love those shots where the focus is on the tiny baby features, so I like to keep the props to a minimum in most set-ups.

I also love to convert many of the images to Black and White.  I often have a hard time deciding which version I like best!!!

This is just a sneak peak of the many fantastic images I got from this session.  And I am so excited that I will get the chance to photograph these beauties again soon!!!

My first year in business was a fantastic one!  I met so many new friends because of my photography and had so much fun growing as an artist!  And it doesn't hurt that I got to begin my journey as a photographer in such an amazingly beautiful place!  I am so excited to see what 2013 will bring!

My New Blue Chair ~ Cape Cod Family Photographer

That's right.  I am actually writing a blog post about a chair.  Sometimes a piece of furniture just speaks to you, ya know?!

New Year's Day, there I was still in my pajamas just hours from the start of my party, and I decided that my daughter just looked too cute and the lighting was just too perfect and the chair was just too awesome...forget getting ready, I had a photo shoot!

At first she played hard to get, and I was like "What do you mean you don't want to be a guinea pig and try out mommy's new prop?!?!

Then she decided to reluctantly play along...

Then she had to go because she had a call from her agent :)

Then finally, she decided to try her hand at this whole photography thing!!!

And THIS has been the silliest blog post ever!!!  Sometimes you just need to stop and enjoy life!  This was one of those times :)
